I was taking a break from writing when I saw these guys munching on some apples outside my back window. Also, you should now be able to access some stuff I have written recently for the paper. I got my admin powers back on the Web site. Some of you have been wondering about those football pictures. You can read the story on the Web site. It's called "Only bees play football."

Hi Andrew,What is going on with showing your car? I saw that you are back glad to see it. Alan
ReplyDeleteThere's a deer behind the car.
ReplyDeleteAndrew,
ReplyDeleteI love the story about football practice. How did that come about? Did Jeff see it? So good.
Jackie
Jackie,
ReplyDeleteThanks. I hope Jeff saw it, but no comments from him yet. I just asked the coach if I could practice with them and he let me. People out here tend to like first-person stuff for some reason. Thanks for posting it on Facebook. Who is Andrew Castelano?
We have rabbits in York. Not nearly as cool... There's a dear behind that car! haha...
ReplyDeleteWell that final quote from the coach couldn't have been much more perfect, now could it? Wow.
ReplyDeleteThat was a really well-written piece. Do you like getting the chance to write in first person?
Also, racquetball is another one of those type of sports that can be added to the list...
Nick,
ReplyDeleteRabbits are cool. Much cuter than deer in my estimation. Yeah, the entire piece was building to that quote obviously. It was great because something made me jot down that little scene on the bus before I had even practiced with them. It was just really powerful. Then when the coach said the thing about thunder bees, I knew I had to connect the two. The story wrote itself from there. And yeah, I really like writing in first person. Egotistical but personal.
For sure. I felt very connected. I liked that a lot. And again, that quote was just... oh man... haha
ReplyDeleteAnd rabbits are cool. We went to the York Fair! today and saw a TON of award-winning rabbits, some large, some small, with a ton of birds/roosters/ducks/etc. It was pretty cool. Also had deep-fried Oreos and saw a pig race. Can't beat that day with a chicken on a stick.
